Background
The Porsche 981 is the internal designation given to the third-generation Porsche Cayman models built by Porsche, released in summer 2012. The 981 reflects the new design language from the 918 Spyder and 991 series 911, and features new and revised engine and transmission specifications. Together with a new body, the type 981 features a new chassis; 40 per cent more torsionally rigid, the front track is 40mm wider, the rear 18mm wider and the wheelbase extended by 60mm, but with a small weight reduction of 30kg. The 981 Cayman is the last to feature a boxer six-cylinder engine. The engine does away with the Intermediate Shaft, which proved to be a weak link in pre-2009 Cayman engines.

Exterior
Our hand selected Cayman S looks stunning in its glossy coat of Guards Red, an iconic Porsche colour. It has been professionally details and ceramic coated so is blemish free. The striking 20-inch Carrera Classic diamond cut lightweight alloy wheels with coloured Porsche crests are the perfect contrast to the Guards Red paintwork. All the trim has a perfect finish, as do the front and rear lights. The windows drop as they should when you open the door. The engine and boot struts also operate as they should. The Cayman S has also been fitted with the Zunsport 7 piece grill set, which protects all the vents from leaves and other road debris, prolonging the life of the radiators and air conditioning condensers.

Interior
The optional extended black leather interior covers the dashboard, centre console and door cards. The Cayman S comes with hard back sports seats that have 3-stage seat heating and electric backs. All of the interior leathers are in excellent condition and provide a perfect contrast to the Guards Red bodywork. There are no marks or signs of wear to any of the trim, panels or switchgear, with the leather retaining a wholly fresh appearance throughout. The sleek aesthetic is topped-off with features like the PCM 3.1 touchscreen system that controls many optional features of the car (Navigation, BOSE Digital Surround System, DAB, DVD DOLBY 5.1 playback, Phone connectivity, Bluetooth music streaming, music interface).

Engine and Transmission
Our Cayman S is equipped with the 3.4 litre DFI flat six engine. The Cayman S engine produces 320bhp and 273ft-lb of torque. The axle load distribution of approximately 45:55 ensures high directional stability and superb road behaviour. The engine starts cleanly when cold or hot, there is no smoke whatsoever either at startup or when driving. There are no unusual sounds or rattles when the engine is running.

The 7-speed double-clutch PDK transmission system provides instant changes, unleashing the power of the engine with minimal fuss. It has three selectable modes, Normal, Sport and Full Manual Shifting.

Our Cayman S is equipped with the highly desired Porsche Switchable Exhaust (PSE) system, which unleashes a more sporty sound both on acceleration and lift off. With SPORT mode enabled, the sound increases further, with pops and crackles when you lift off the throttle.

Wheels, Tyres and Brakes
Our Cayman comes fitted with the 20-inch Carrera Classic diamond cut lightweight alloy wheels, which are unmarked, free of kerbing damage and corrosion. The brakes are phenomenal, cross drilled and vented discs front and rear. The front and rear brake discs and pads are in good condition without any lip or corrosion. The front discs and pads have just been replaced by PorschaCare. The tyres are Porsche N rated high performance tyres with lots of tread remaining.

History File
Our Porsche Cayman S has a full Porsche and Specialist service history with evidence of work carried out shown in the original service book and accompanying invoices. The last service was completed at 53,000 miles and it was a Major service including inspection, spark plugs, all filters and brake fluid change. The next service is due in around 17,500 miles. The 981 Cayman S has had a full diagnostics and engine hours check carried out by Porsche Specialist PorschaCare in January 2020, as well as new front brake discs and pads and an air conditioning service.

The most recent brake fluid change was at 53,000 miles, the spark plugs were also replaced at 53,000 miles.

The car comes complete with invoices of work carried out, original owners manual pack and two keys. 6 months warranty and 12 months MOT for total peace of mind.
