///Background
BMW M Division unveiled the Z4M Roadster at the Frankfurt Auto Show, the two seater, rear wheel drive compact convertible shared the engine and transmission of the E46 M3. Like all BMW M models, the car was developed by BMW’s high performance M Division. The Z4M featured the 3.2 litre straight six found in the E46 M3 together with the six speed Getrag manual gearbox, which can propel the car to 60mph from a standstill in 4.8 seconds. However, where the Z4M really shines is in engine responsiveness. BMW ensured that the Z4M stood out from the rest of the range by giving it quad rear stainless steel tailpipes. The rear end shape with the upturned boot and muscular wheel arches are automotive design perfection. The Z4M Roadster and Coupe are fast gaining a strong following in collector circles. Just 916 right hand Z4M Roadster’s were produced.

The BMW Z4M Roadster looks stunning in the striking Interlagos Blue Metallic paintwork. The paintwork condition is excellent, with no blemishes on any panel. All the trim has a perfect finish, as do the front and rear lights, which are free from any damage or moisture. The windows drop as they should when you open the doors. The engine and boot struts operate as they should. This car has been kept in the garage by it’s current lady owner and also the two previous owners before that.

///Interior
The Individual Champagne Extended Nappa leather interior and M Sports Memory seats are in excellent condition, and provide a perfect compliment to the gleaming Interlagos Blue Metallic bodywork. There are no marks or signs of wear to any of the trim or switchgear, with the leather retaining a wholly fresh appearance throughout. The Black fabric roof is unblemished and supple, this car has been stored indoors its whole life. The sleek aesthetic is topped-off with features like the thick rimmed M Sport leather steering wheel complete with M colour stitching and M-Division gear knob, both remaining in superb condition.

///Engine and Transmission
The Z4M comes fitted with the S54 engine from the third generation M3 (E46) and was an evolution of the BMW S50 unit. This naturally-aspirated in-line six-cylinder engine puts you in touch with 338bhp and 269ft lb of torque. It has a rev limit of 8,000 rpm. The S54 engine has camshafts with variable valve timing (VANOS) with individual throttle bodies and a scavenging oil pump (to avoid oil starvation during high speed cornering). There is a Sport Button that remaps the throttle to make it more responsive when driving enthusiastically. The S54 engine was awarded Engine of the Year for five consecutive years. The Getrag 6-speed manual gearbox is the perfect partner for the iconic engine in the Z4M.

///Wheels, Tyres and Brakes
The Z4M Roadster has a wider front track than other Z4 models, and rides on lightweight 18″ M Double-Spoke 224M alloy wheels. The tyres are matching Continental Contisport with 5mm/6mm of tread, so almost new. The Z4M has M Division suspension and steering. The front and rear brake discs are floating two piece items with internal venting which provides a huge amount of stopping power. The brake discs and pads show very little wear.

The BMW Z4M Roadster has a full BMW main dealer service history with the running-in check being carried out at 1,207 miles in October 2007. The first service was carried out in August 2010 at 8k, then October 2012 at 13k (Inspection I), then October 2014 at 19k, then August 2016 at 26k (Inspection I), then July 2018 at 29k. The VANOS system overhauled under BMW Warranty August 2017.

The car comes complete with the original fully stamped service booklet, supporting original invoices of work carried out at BMW in a chronological display folder, original owners manual pack and three keys plus the valet/service key.
