The Audi R8 was introduced by Audi in 2006. The car is exclusively designed, developed, and manufactured by Audi’s high performance subsidiary, quattro GmbH and is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform. The fundamental construction of the R8 is based on an aluminium monocoque which is built using space frame principles. The car is built in a state-of-the-art factory at Audi’s ‘aluminium site’ at Neckarsulm, Germany. To produce the R8, seventy workers fit 5,000 different parts by hand. The factory usually produced between eight and fifteen cars a day, up to a maximum daily output of 29 cars. Ninety-five lasers inspect the entire R8 in five seconds to ensure that over 220 measurements are within 0.1 millimetres of the programmed plans.
The R8 was only available with the quattro all wheel drive system with 70% of power being sent to the rear wheels and 30% to the front wheels. The quattro system was developed by Audi to win rally stages. The R8 was the first supercar from the German manufacturer and proved hugely successful from launch. The Audi R8 5.2 V10 exterior is a showcase of progressive design and the embodiment of world-class performance. It features an aggressive high-gloss Black singleframe grille and the contrasting sideblades create a striking and unique look that is unmistakably Audi. Our hand selected R8 V10 looks stunning in its metallic coat of Ice Silver, an optional colour for the car which is one of the most desired colours for the Audi R8. The optional Carbon Sigma Sideblades and folding Carbon Sigma Wing Mirrors are the perfect contrast to the iridescent paintwork. The paintwork and sideblade condition is excellent, with no blemishes on any panel. The R8 V10 has been ceramic coated which has helped to protect the paintwork and repels all surface contaminants. All the trim has a perfect finish, as do the front and rear lights, which are free from any damage or moisture buildup. The windows drop as they should when you open the door. The engine and boot struts operate as they should.
The Black Fine Nappa leather sport seats complete with extended leather package which surround the driver console are in excellent condition and provide a perfect compliment to the gleaming Ice Silver metallic bodywork. There are no marks or signs of wear to any of the trim, carbon fibre panels or switchgear, with the leather retaining a wholly fresh appearance throughout. The sleek aesthetic is topped-off with features like the flat-bottomed R8 leather steering wheel and short-shift aluminium gear knob, both remaining in superb condition.

The Audi R8 5.2 V10 has set the standard for dramatic lighting with its iconic LED daytime running lights. The Audi xenon plus headlights offer exceptional brightness even in challenging conditions. The rear lights are LED as well, offering the safety of rapid response once the brake pedal is depressed. LED lighting technology is also found in the turn indicators integrated into the exterior mirror housings, and the dramatic engine compartment features LED illumination.
Engine and Transmission
Our Audi R8 is equipped with a 5.2 litre V10 FSI engine, based on the unit in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. Specifically, it is an all-aluminium alloy 40-valve petrol engine, utilising Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI). FSI direct-injection technology is a unique Audi innovation that was originally developed for the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race to deliver more power and torque, as well as enhanced fuel efficiency. The engine is mid-mounted, which gives it a low centre of gravity and helps it to achieve the ideal weight balance. The axle load distribution of 44:56 ensures high directional stability and superb road behaviour.
The engine develops 525 bhp and generates 391 lb·ft of torque. It uses two chain-driven double overhead camshafts per cylinder bank, and utilises variable valve timing for both inlet and exhaust camshafts. The 4 wheel drive system is biased towards the rear; it sends 30% of its power to the front wheels and 70% to the rear. The engine starts cleanly when cold or hot, there is no smoke whatsoever either at startup or when driving. There are no unusual sounds or rattles when the engine is running. The oil and filter were changed by Audi Hitchin at just under 45k miles.
With its compact design and low weight, the 6 speed manual gearbox is a simple, direct way to tap into the power of the Audi R8. The metal gated system provides short gearshift travel and precise lever movement, giving you the highest possible level of accessibility with the minimum of fuss.
Wheels, Tyres and Brakes
Our R8 comes fitted with the 19 inch ’10-Spoke Y’ Design alloy wheels, which are totally unmarked, free of kerbing damage and corrosion. The brakes are phenomenal, internally vented discs with 8-piston brake callipers at the front and 4-piston callipers at the rear. The brakes discs and pads are only 10% worn. The tyres are matching Pirelli P Zero with 7mm of tread on the front and 6mm at the rear as reported recently by Audi Hitchin.
Our Audi R8 has a full Audi Main Dealer service history (Audi Slough, Audi Bridgend, Audi Swansea, Audi Worthing and Audi Hitchin) with the first service being carried out in September 2010 at 9k then August 2011 at 14k, then May 2012 at 20k, then January 2013 at 25k, then September 2013 at 32k, then August 2014 at 38k, then October 2015 at 42k, then April 2017 at 43k and the most recent service February 2018 at just under 45k. From the February 2018 inspection report from Audi Hitchin, there are no advisories. In fact Audi report that the brakes are just 10% worn and the tyre treads are 7mm/6mm, front and rear respectively. The next service is due in around 16,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.
The most recent brake fluid change was at 43k and the spark plugs were also replaced at 42k.
