Our BMW M3 CSL is Silver Grey metallic, one of 316 finished in the colour out of a total of 422 right hand drive cars produced Worldwide. Currently there are just 291 CSL registered in the UK, and this example is totally original and unmolested, ready for its next owner to cherish. As well as the standard equipment that comes with all M3 CSL, it was specified with the Xenon headlight system, PDC Rear Parking Sensors, Climate Control Air Conditioning, Rain Sensor and the Business Hifi System. This CSL has always been a collector’s car, not a track toy, as can be immediately seen from the incredible condition. The exterior is unmarked, the paint looks as good as the day it left the production line, and the carbon fibre roof, trims and wheels are perfect. The interior is completely original and is in superb condition, the CSL seats are in their original Reflex Cloth in Laser Ameretta Anthracite. The original 19-inch M Double-Spoke 67M Light Alloy Wheels are still present and unmarked, fitted with matching Michelin Pilot Sport Cup high performance tyres. The car comes complete with the original service booklet, invoices of work carried out, original owners manual pack, all tools and two original keys. The previous owner has also included a Classic Additions indoor car cover, two new OEM CSL sill guards, two new OEM CSL emblems for the front wings, new OEM BMW bonnet badge and a SMG selector surround and a new set of OEM floor mats. Our M3 CSL has covered 61,900 miles and has a full BMW Main Dealer service history, the most recent service was an Inspection II in September 2020 at 61,880 miles, including Oil/Air/Micro Filters, Differential Oil Change. Prior to this the clutch, flywheel and spark plugs were also replaced this year. The all-important Running-in Check was carried out on schedule at 1,219 miles.

The engine starts and runs without vibration or knocking, the sublime 6-speed SMG II automated manual gearbox changes slickly and smoothly. Everything fitted to the M3 CSL Coupe works exactly as it should, we have thoroughly inspected, tested and run this CSL. Background
Coupe Sport Leightbau, translated Coupe Sport Lightweight, is the perfect label for the ultimate road going E46 M3, the CSL. Available in just two colours Silver Grey Metallic and Sapphire Black Metallic, the CSL core focus was weight saving and enhancing the driver engagement. Weight was decreased by a significant 110kg, compared to the standard M3, total kerb weight it 1,385kg (subject to options). This saving was achieved through the use of glass-reinforced plastics in the body structure and numerous carbon fibre panels, including the iconic roof, front/rear bumpers and boot lid. The rear window was also a thinner glass panel. The interior also gained fibreglass racing bucket seats and rear seats, carbon door panels and carbon fibre centre console.

To improve the driving experience further, the suspension was revised with stiffer springs, upgraded shocks and a quicker ratio steering rack. The engine has 17bhp more than the the standard M3, producing 355bhp, through the use of different camshafts, exhaust valves and a bigger air intake with a striking carbon fibre manifold. These items increased the raw sound from the engine, making the CSL stand out from the M3 immeasurably. The SMG II automated manual gearbox also has revised software, allowing it to change gear quicker.

The combination of all of these special and unique parts, plus the enhanced throttle response, track mode make for an incredibly exciting and highly addictive driving experience. In the words of BMW DTM and Touring Car champion Steve Soper, the M3 CSL “feels and sounds so much like a race car, I’m surprised it’s road legal”.
