The optional Porsche Dynamic Cornering Bi-Xenon headlights offer exceptional brightness, even in challenging conditions. The light beam pattern actually adjusts from side to side depending on speed and steering wheel movement to light up round a corner increasing your line of sight at night. The daylight running lights are also a valued safety feature added on the facelift Cayman Gen 2 from 2009.
“The Cayman has come a long way, establishing itself firmly as a sports car in its own right and no longer seen as the more economical version of the 911. The Cayman S looks, drives and feels just perfect. All other things being equal it is probably all the sports car you’ll ever need. The Cayman S is a pure-bred sports car with mid-mounted engine, delivering uniform weight distribution between the front and rear axles and particularly well-balanced handling characteristics for high cornering speeds with excellent control.”
MotorStars Magazine, 2016
The facelift version of the Porsche Cayman was introduced in February 2009. The Cayman S gained direct injection and a 25 hp increase to 320bhp, compared to the first generation version. This new engine was also cleaner and more efficient, which translates to the annual road tax being £325 instead of £555, which is a significant saving in annual running costs! The new engine does away with the Intermediate Shaft, which proved to be a weak link in pre-2009 engines. The front bumper was redesigned along with new front and rear lights, with the addition of daylight running lights in the front bumper.
Our hand selected Porsche Cayman S Gen 2 looks stunning in its metallic coat of Basalt Black Metallic, an optional colour for the car. The striking 19-inch Sport Design lightweight alloy wheels finished with coloured Porsche crests are the perfect contrast to the red brake callipers. The paintwork condition is excellent, with no blemishes on any panel. The Cayman S has been waxed with Autoglym High Definition Wax by us, which will help protect the paintwork and repel surface contaminants. All the trim has a perfect finish, as do the front and rear lights, which are free from any damage or moisture buildup. The windows drop as they should when you open the door. The engine and boot struts also operate as they should.
The optional hardback leather sports seats, optional extended leather dashboard and rest of the interior leathers are in excellent condition and provide a perfect pairing to the Basalt Black metallic bodywork. There are no marks or signs of wear to any of the trim, panels or switchgear, with the leather retaining a wholly fresh appearance throughout. The sleek aesthetic is topped-off with features like the extended leather dashboard with silver stitching and the brushed aluminium trim inserts.
Engine and Transmission
Our Cayman S is equipped with the 3.4 litre DFI flat six engine. The Cayman S engine produces 320bhp and 273ft-lb of torque. The axle load distribution of approximately 45:55 ensures high directional stability and superb road behaviour. The engine starts cleanly when cold or hot, there is no smoke whatsoever either at startup or when driving. There are no unusual sounds or rattles when the engine is running.
With its compact design and low weight, the 6 speed manual gearbox is a simple, direct way to tap into the power of the Cayman S. The manual transmission system provides short gearshift travel and precise lever movement, giving you the highest possible level of accessibility with the minimum of fuss. The gear knob and handbrake are the optional aluminium items which feel great in the hand.
Our Cayman S is equipped with the highly desired Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system, which firms up the ride noticeably.
Wheels, Tyres and Brakes
Our Cayman S comes fitted with the 19-inch 15-spoke Sport Design lightweight alloy wheels, which are unmarked, free of kerbing damage and corrosion. The brakes are phenomenal, cross drilled and vented discs front and rear. The front and rear brake discs and pads are in good condition without any lip or corrosion, the rear pads have just been replaced by PorschaCare in September 2019 following the full vehicle inspection. The tyres are high performance items with a good amount of tread all round.
Our Porsche Cayman S has a full Official Porsche Centre and Porsche Specialist Dealer service history with evidence of work carried out shown in the original service book and accompanying invoices. The last service was completed at 47,000 miles in June 2019, and included a coolant change. The high pressure fuel pump was also replaced at the same time and includes a 2 year warranty. The next service is due in around 19,000 miles or 21 months time, whichever comes sooner.
The most recent brake fluid change was in August 2019 at 47,800 miles, the spark plugs were replaced in July 2016 at 44,800 miles.
The car comes complete with invoices of work carried out, original owners manual pack and two keys. 6 month nationwide warranty and MOT until May 2020.
