Porsche 911 Carrera 997.2

SOLD

— This car is now sold —

This is a stunning example of a Generation 2 997 series Porsche 911 Carrera 3.6 finished in striking Guards Red (code L84A) which has been impeccably maintained by its three previous owners. This 997.2 Carrera comes with the PDK 7-speed gearbox with shift paddles, heated electric Leather Seats, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), PCM 3.0 touchscreen with satnav, Apple iPod Music/AUX connectivity, Porsche Sports Design Leather steering wheel and 19″ Sport Design lightweight alloy wheels. The 911 Carrera comes fitted with the rear mounted 3.6 litre flat six engine that produces 340bhp. The added benefit of the 3.6 litre engine over the larger 3.8 found in the Carrera S is it qualifies for cheaper road tax, £315 per year versus £505.

Just three previous owners from new (current owner since March 2017) and full OPC (Porsche Main Dealer) service history, with just the most recent major service at RPM, a well respected Porsche Specialist. We have arranged a full diagnostic check including over-rev check and the results are excellent. The 911 Carrera has covered 76,000 miles and has been looked after by its former keepers regardless of cost. The car is HPI clear and comes complete with six months warranty for peace of mind. MOT until March 2020.

Background
Production of the second generation 997 series 911 Carrera began in mid 2008, it featured an all new engine with Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) which is mounted 10mm lower in the car, revised suspension system, new front bumper with larger air intakes, LED rear and front daylight running lights, all new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) System with touchscreen, hard drive navigation and Bluetooth.

Behind the second-generation 997’s redesign lies one of the most significant sports cars of the moment. The 911 has always made sense for its practicality and dynamism, but now it’s even more polished, even quicker and significantly greener. It’s even better to drive. Porsche has played down the changes to the suspension, but they have completely eliminated the old car’s tendency to bob its nose up and down in response to changes in road surface and elevation. So you can lean on the front end with far more confidence now, while the 911’s trademark steering remains intact, offering stacks of feedback and instant turn-in. It’s an odd experience for anyone who’s driven 911s before, but there’s no doubt that the new car is more capable even on the standard non-adjustable dampers our base Carrera came with. It’s pliant and handles brilliantly – a great mix.

CAR Magazine 2008

Exterior
Our hand selected Porsche 911 Carrera looks stunning in its glossy coat of Guards Red, a rare colour for the 997 but a classic 911 colour nevertheless. The striking silver Sport Design alloy wheels are the perfect contrast to the gleaming Guards Red paintwork. The paintwork condition is excellent, with no blemishes on any panel. The 911 Carrera has been waxed with Autoglym High Definition Wax by us, which will help protect the paintwork and repel surface contaminants. All the trim has a perfect finish, as do the front and rear lights, which are free from any damage or moisture buildup. The windows drop as they should when you open the door. The engine and boot struts also operate as they should. This car has been kept in the garage by its previous owner.

Interior
The black leather seats come with optional 2-stage heating and like the rest of the interior leathers are in excellent condition and provide a perfect contrast to the Guards Red bodywork. The 911 Carrera is fitted with the optional and striking Red seat belts, which match the exterior and also the optional Sport Design Leather steering wheel. There are no marks or signs of wear to any of the trim, panels or switchgear, with the leather retaining a wholly fresh appearance throughout. We have cleaned and treated the interior leather with AutoGlym products so they are protected for the future.

Engine and Transmission
Our 911 Carrera is equipped with the 3.6 litre flat six DFI engine, which addressed all previous weaknesses of the 996 and 997 first generation engines. The 911 Carrera engine produces 340bhp and 288 ft-lb of torque. The axle load distribution of approximately 40:60 ensures high directional stability and superb road behaviour. The engine starts cleanly when cold or hot, there is no smoke whatsoever either at startup or when driving. There are no unusual sounds or rattles when the engine is running. With its compact design and low weight, the 6 speed manual gearbox is a simple, direct way to tap into the power of the 911 Carrera. The PDK transmission system provides almost instant changes, unleashing the power of the engine with the minimum of fuss. Our 911 Carrera is equipped with the highly desired switchable sports suspension system, which includes the dashboard switch that stiffens the suspension in an instant, increasing connection to the road.

Wheels, Tyres and Brakes
Our 911 Carrera comes fitted with the 19 inch Sport Design lightweight alloy wheels, which are original, unmarked, free of damage and corrosion. The brake discs and pads are in excellent condition. The tyres are N rated Michelin Pilot Sport high performance tyres.

History File
Our Porsche 911 Carrera has a full Official Porsche Centre (OPC) and Porsche Specialist service history. The last major service was completed at 76,500 miles in January 2019 and included an inspection and brake fluid change. The next service is due in 20,000 miles or 24 months, whichever comes sooner.

The car comes complete with the original stamped service book, original owners manual pack, history/provenance file and two keys. MOT until March 2019 and 6 month nationwide warranty is included.
